Spiritual Retreat of the Week: Adventurous Spirit Travel

Here is not only one retreat location but an entire company devoted to spiritual adventures. At present the company, Adventurous Spirit Travel has trips this year to France, Guatemala, Hawaii, Ireland, Sedona, Mt. Shasta and Todos Santos, Mexico. The company is run by two women experienced travellers, Lee Cook and Tina Wood from an office in Boulder, Colorado. I especially like the passage under the menu heading, “About Us” on their website.

Spiritual Retreat of the Week: Adventurous Spirit Travel

Adventurous Spirit Travel welcomes all world travelers and those who have never before traveled with a group. Our tours are designed for adults, women and men, young or not so young; people interested in the mystery and sacredness of life, with a desire to know and understand more of where we've come from, to assist us in where we are going and to make a difference on the planet. We will discover new information that will enrich all of our senses. Our tour travel guides are experienced in the places we visit and offer unique insights about the sacred sites and by offering a spiritual education, we encourage our clients to take in the full experience.
The section under the menu, “Travel Tours” is also worth reading.
Adventurous Spirit Travel is more than a tour company offering vacation packages. We consider ourselves to be an open and conscious traveling community. Our intention is to offer vacation package deals with an awareness of why we are going to a particular place, what we
are looking for and how we can give back. In a way, we are modern day pilgrims.
One way to fully experience the sacredness of the universe is to become a pilgrim. Since the beginning of time, people have sought out places of divine revelation in the landscape: on holy mountains, by curative springs, at ancient monuments, and near the shrines of saints.
To learn more about the trips and to read the original post, click here.
Although I’ve not gone on any of these adventures, it seems they have the tours well put together, and they are quite popular judging by the 2,625 Facebook “likes” on Adventurous-Spirit-Travel. There are some amazing photos on their Facebook site. Check it out and share this post with an adventurous friend.

Strange Figures Appear in July 26 Crop Circle

Two very large figures have appeared in a field in Hill Barn, Wiltshire, UK on July 26, 2012. They look like creatures from another planet; there is nothing on this planet with such a long body and small head – maybe a relative of the giraffe. Notice the size in the aerial close-up with the people standing inside the crop figures (hardly a crop circle). It’s another mystery as to what it is and why it has been given to the people of this planet.

Strange Figures Appear in July 26 Crop Circle

There are many websites now devoted to crop circles, but I recommend this one as being always current, popular and well maintained: CropCircleConnector.com Do you have any ideas as to what these figures might be? Leave a comment below if you do.

Successful Hopi Spiritual Healing For Dementia

David Maes of Hopi/Apache descent has found a way to help native elders with dementia. It uses the native ways of healing with drums and chanting. What’s unique is his ideas of how to reach these people and that it is working. Here is a report about it written in IndianCountryTodayMediaNetwork.com by Carol Berry.

Successful Hopi Spiritual Healing For Dementia

Most suffering among elders is caused by loneliness, helplessness and boredom, “while an elder-centered community calls for close and continuing contact with plants, animals and children for their companionship,” he said of a part of the Australian approach to dementia.
In some so-called holistic approaches, there are separate medical, social, religious and other treatment components in which “specialists think they are treating the whole person, but in fact they’re fragmenting the person.” Instead, he suggests, each specialist should have “a bit of” the other specialists, “so the M.D. explains how medicine affects his or her spirituality and accompanies the person to a chaplain. That goes to the center of each person—”the essence of the person”—that may have been lost over the years.
“The only way we can reach people with dementia is by going into their world—there’s no other way to reach them right now. They [the treatment community] are beginning to listen to us,” he said, describing Taawa as “a brand-new approach.”
Read more here.
David Maes comes from an impressive background: Masters of Divinity from St. Thomas School of Theology in Denver with a double major in Christian and Native American Theology and a Masters in Counseling from the University of San Francisco. I especially like how he is combining the methods of other native healers and how he is gathering the energies of various healers for each case. It show how important this is to him as well as his personal ability to network and learn from others. If you like this idea click like below and better yet, share this post with a friend.

New Crop Circle Resembles Westminster Abbey

A recent crop circle reminds the Brits of their Westminster Abbey. See what you think when you compare these two pictures. Here is what Phil Vinter reported in Mail Online.
This new crop circle image is ringing a few bells with experts who believe the extraordinary design resembles Westminister Abbey.
The extraordinary design appeared at the weekend in Stanton St Bernard in Wiltshire and the church-like spires have been likened to the famous landmark where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were married last year.

Spiritual Healing Journey in Vietnam for Veterans

This is a very moving article and accompanying video about a group of US veterans who returned to Viet Nam with a therapist, Ed Tick, in an effort to clear their continuing PTSD symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks and depression. The writer, Stephen Olsson, a video photographer and author has his own issues from covering war zones in Afghanistan. Let’s read part of what Steve Olsson has to say about this spiritual healing journey in Vietnam for veterans in the Huffington Post (Religion section).

Spiritual Healing Journey in Vietnam for Veterans

From the Mekong Delta in the south to Hanoi in the north, Dr. Tick led the vets back to the exact places where they suffered their most painful war experiences -- where they fought, where they killed or where they witnessed their closest friends killed. The goal of these trips, what Ed calls “their second descent into hell,” is to re-connect the fractured soul of the PTSD-wounded warrior and achieve some sense of healing, not only for the vet, but for the spouse and the entire family.
Besides Dr. Tick’s deep understanding of the disease we today call “PTSD,” I was extremely impressed by his deep knowledge of Vietnamese culture and the Buddhist faith. The attached video sequence, filmed in a Vietnamese Buddhist temple, is one of the short film segments within the GLOBAL SPIRIT program, "Forgiveness and Healing," now showing on many PBS stations (check local broadcast schedules at www.GlobalSpirit.tv) and also part of an upcoming feature-length documentary: "A Soldier's Heart: Healing the Wound of PTSD" (see www.CEMproductions.org).

Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming (WILD) Methods

Here is an entire website devoted to lucid dreaming by a person who practices what she preaches. Rebecca Turner lives in New Zealand and has been lucid dreaming since she was a small child. However, she also studied lucid dreaming as a teenager. Now she has courses herself that you may purchase to learn this interesting art. Here’s what she says about Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming methods.
At first, I was stunned by the realism of my dream reality - and then overjoyed by the realization that I could control and direct my awareness in the dream!
I practiced more in-depth lucid dreaming techniques. Sometimes I could have several lucid dreams per week. Yet other times, when I slowed my practice, I had nothing for a whole month. It was anything but consistent in those early days.
But when I had those lucid dreams... they were totally worth it!
In lucid dreams, I know I am dreaming and increase the intensity of the dream at will. I can "turn up my consciousness" allowing me to see, hear, feel, taste and smell everything as vividly as waking life.
I can create my own dramatic scenery, teleport to anywhere in the universe, interact with dream figures and speak directly to my subconscious mind.
This is where I start to get lost for words... because no matter what I say here, I cannot convey the beauty and emotion of a truly inspired lucid dream.
A great lucid dream can change the way you view the world.
To read the original post click here.

So to summarize, in lucid dreaming you can control the places you go and what happens (somewhat). It can be learned and an increasing number of people are doing just that. Rebecca has a number of articles on this website such as lucid dreaming FAQ, sleep and dream tutorials, sleep disorders, and free training videos. She also will sell you tutorials on how to make money on your website! Please check out Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming methods on this website: http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/wake-induced-lucid-dreams.html

Hungry Caterpillar Makes its Appearance as a Crop Circle

Now it seems that the alien crop circle makers have children and read Earthly books to them. How else would they know about the Hungry Caterpillar from the book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It appeared in early July near Wiltshire, England in a crop field of wheat. Here is some of the report.

Hungry Caterpillar Makes its Appearance as a Crop Circle

The circle is 300ft long and seems to be an attempt to recreate the famous hero of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a book by Eric Carle first published in 1969.
As ever, it's not clear precisely who - or what - is responsible for the circle. It's not even clear when it was made.
But it follows hard on the heels of another striking crop-based creation, which was first spotted at the end of last month:
Crop circle "experts" - yes, there are such things - claim this design is an attempt to depict "the New Jerusalem", along with "drops of water that could herald the start of a new world".
Alternatively, it's just a rather artistic bit of rural vandalism.
The 200ft design has appeared in a wheat field at Stanton St. Bernard in Wiltshire. The farmer who owns the field has not yet destroyed the design. Instead he's installed an honesty box charging people £2 to have a look.
At least someone is making money out of tourists this summer.
To read the original post for this article click here.
The caterpillar design is 300 meters long and even its head is big. What do you think of these crop circles? Leave a comment below.

Hands-on Healing Techniques Revisited

Dawn Greenwald writing for The Daily News out of New Mexico has covered a number of healing techniques, starting with Dolores Krieger’s Therapeutic Touch up to the latest Biofield Therapy or Quantum Biofeedback Therapy. She points out that hands-on practitioners do not claim to treat, cure or diagnose but their ability to reduce pain and suffering as well as rebuild immunity makes it an ideal complimentary practice to modern medicine, just as physiotherapy is today. Please read some of what she has to say about hands-on healing techniques.

Hands-on Healing Techniques Revisited

"Hands-On Healing" is an energy medicine technique that is more common than most people realize. The instrument, or Hands-On practitioner, facilitates physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health by light touch and sometimes gentle sweeping motions over the body to balance, open blockages and relax muscles. Each session is Aunique as it is guided by the needs of the client, but every session will produce a feeling of deep relaxation.
By the 1970s, nurses were using a form of Hands-On technique called therapeutic touch, founded by Dr. Dolores Krieger of the New York University School of Nursing. A modern-day "laying on of hands," this nursing intervention was shown to relieve pain and enhance the bodies ability to heal.
Today, the outgrowth of this compassionate expression of love and caring is a program called "Healing Touch." According to the website of Healing Touch Program (www.healingtouchprogram.com), a training and certification program, Healing Touch is "...an energy therapy in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health."
The National Institutes of Health refer to it as a "biofield therapy." Research studies show that it is effective for pain management, stress reduction, anxiety and relaxation. Today it is practiced in health clinics and hospitals nationally and throughout the world, wherever compassionate care is offered.
To view the original post click here.
I was originally trained in Therapeutic Touch by Dolores Kreiger, who at that time would only teach people who were already in the helping professions and able to use the techniques immediately. The nurses who assisted her classes had numerous stories of people in emergency situations recovering faster, even premature babies and elderly patients going through surgery. I wonder if this great method, now called Healing Touch, is still being used in certain hospitals? Have you had any experience with hands-on healing? Please leave a comment about hands-on healing techniques revisited below. Do you believe it is effective towards recovery?

Spiritual Healing with Sound Therapy

According to recent research we as humans are lacking certain sound frequencies, and just like vitamins, if they are played for us with repetition, we will feel better, even recover from serious illnesses. Many of these sounds are played at a low frequency which corresponds to brain wave frequencies. On this website, www.therapyharps.com, there are a number of research projects covered with remarkable results to physical, emotional and spiritual health. Here is a small portion of this very intriguing article about sound healing.

Spiritual Healing with Sound Therapy

"Research has shown that when we are deprived of certain light frequencies we can become sick. One of the most fascinating scientific facts to emerge recently is that sound behaves in a similar fashion to light. In other words, sound and light act like vitamins and minerals in our body. Most people are deficient in certain tones and this is traced when the human voice is recorded and monitored. We need a certain balance of sound frequencies, which may vary from one individual to another, in order to maintain our bodies in a healthy state.

Recent experiments indicate that one of the most powerful ways to heal the individual is to play back the missing frequencies at a low octave which corresponds to brain wave frequencies. What happens here is quite remarkable and really beautiful. The body is simply helped to heal itself by activating the control center in the brain that looks after this healing."
- In the words of Jocelyn Godwin, ed.,
Cosmic Music, Inner Traditions, Rochester, Vermont 1989

Bio-Resonance Sound Therapy is a revolutionary new alternative therapy we are experimenting with which uses frequencies to help balance the body. Our research shows incredible promise, with almost unbelievable results occurring periodically.
Although it seems strange when you first hear of "sound therapy" like it is something strange and destined for the medical research labs, the truth is that the effects are apparent in our every day life... For example, we experience the energizing effect of sound and music every time we hear music with a heavy beat. Just think of the last time you heard a favorite dance hit and couldn't help but to start dancing along.
To read the original post click here.
If you are interested in hearing some of the CDs used for sound therapy I recommend this CD, “Dreamscapes” which includes ERF (Earth Resonance Frequency) and Theta Frequency, these low vibrational waves that were mentioned above. It’s available right here on this website. It’s an amazing aid to restless nights and getting a good night’s sleep. You can listen to a number of sample cuts if you click the link above.

Healing rituals include a combination of meditation, deep bodywork and prana energy, performed by healers whose gifted talents have been handed down through generations of Balinese families. Energy Healing introduces the powerful Panca Mahabhuta in which Pak Wayan works to balance the five elements of earth, water, fire, air and ether within the body.

Crop Circle Appears in Italy

Most of the crop circles appear in Southern England but there are a number of them in other parts of the world too. Here’s one that just appeared near Carcia, Italy and was posted to the internet on July 3,2012 by Joey Sneddon writing for OMG! Ubuntu! Please read some of what he says about this crop circle.

Crop Circle Appears in Italy

Many of the designs (there are more than one) span between 600 to 800 square meter in size.
The Italian Police are also keeping their heads firmly out of the clouds too, and are putting the circles creation down to pranksters influenced by a May edition of paranornal TV show ‘Mystery’ – which happened to explain precisely how to make crop circles…
Joshua and his family are less convinced by this ‘earthly’ explanation however.
“This time of year the wheat [will bend and break] if we walk in the middle,’ he told Italian blog Ctzen.it, ‘There are [no] signs of people who walk, nor wheels of vehicles; nothing that suggests that they were created by a human hand.’
“We have looked carefully, the designs are so perfect that they seem to be made with a compass and the ears are intertwined.”
To read the original post please click here.
If you want to know more about crop circles, I recommend this DVD: What on Earth? by Suzanne Taylor. What is strange is why these keep appearing without any contact with the creators – sort of like an anonymous gift.

How to Know You are Experiencing Spiritual Awakening

This short video describes clearly the physical and mental changes you might go through to the path of enlightenment. Do you think only gurus and highly evolved beings experience enlightenment? This is changing as more people evolve into the next stage of development. This video is a bit controversial as some Christians see it as against their beliefs. I think the ideas here are universal, but I will let you decide for yourself.
What are your experiences with this process? Please leave a message below. Do you think this is accurate?

American Hindus Turn to Computer Dating to Replace Matchmakers

While finding someone to marry with your same background is a cultural choice, it is also a spiritual one to keep up the traditions of a religion. I guess the occupation of matchmaker is not only going out of style but it’s being replaced by computer dating, especially for ethnic groups like the Indian-American Hindus. While the majority of people in India are Hindu, it’s difficult for Hindus in other countries to find partners for the same religious and cultural backgrounds, reports Megan Sweas in The Huffington Post (Religious Section). There are also dating “mixers” where prospective partners can meet each other on neutral territory, so to speak. Here’s part of what Megan writes.

American Hindus Turned to Computer Dating to Replace Matchmakers

Within Indian culture (which is predominantly Hindu), marriage is as much about families coming together as it is about couples coming together. Hinduism orders Afamilies into four major castes and thousands of sub-castes, each with their own particular ritual role or profession. Ideally, a couple must be in the same sub-caste, region and religion. Priests also compare their horoscopes to ensure compatibility.
Especially in Indian villages, matchmaking tends to be informal, using "extensive kinship networks," said Lindsey Harlan, chair of religious studies at Connecticut College. When an Indian gets to a marriageable age, "aunties," who are not necessarily related, start looking out for potential life partners.
"When you're working, it's really difficult to meet people," Thakur said. "You go there, you meet someone. You can meet them a few times. It's basically semi-arranged."
Thakur's desire to marry reflects Indians' traditional values at a time when only 51 percent of American adults are wed, according to 2010 Census data.
"It's not like a flirty or just everyday kind of party," Mittal said. "From the girls' side or boys' side, they are both serious about finding a life partner."

Here is a selection from the Hindu matchmaking online service, Bharatmatchmaking.com about using mobile phone to hook up with that ideal partner.

Mobile Matrimony - Get matched through your mobile

BharatMatrimony Mobile Apps can now help you find a life partner right from your mobile phone. You can search and contact your matches from your mobile anytime, anywhere. I’d like to tell you a short story. At one time an Indian-American woman came to me for a reading. She was a respected and well paid dentist in the US. She wanted to know if she should marry the Indian man in India that her parents (who were still living in India) had found for her to marry. What was I to say? It was not my culture, but it seemed rather extreme that she should marry a man she had only met once who had grown up in a very traditional way. What would happen to her job? I was at a loss to know what to say. What would you say if you were in my shoes? Leave a comment below to let me know.
